i bought a prizm deluze skimmer last week (red sea). at first it was noisy but now i've set it to what i think is the best setting, its not too bad.

what should the water in the collection cup look like so i know its setup right? it the present rate of skimming i'll have to empty it every 4-5 days or so. i can see dirt in the collection cup and a scum on top of the water so this has to be a good thing?

does anyone know any ways to make it even quieter?? apparently theres a fault in these skimmers which is easily fixed and leaves them nearly silent?? anyone know how??

Dunno about fixing it, but a nice thick brown sludge that needs cleaning every 4-5 days sounds like the right discharge rate to me :good:

It should probably run for 1 or 2 weeks before it's properly working. You are trying to get a nice dark skimmate, it should be looking close to coffee.
