would a 20ltr tank be big enough for a couple of betas??

Male or female?
A single male would be fine in that size tank. As for females, people say they prefer to be in small groups so the tank may be a little too small.

you could split it down the middle so you can have 2 males/females.Other thsthan you could have 1 male or 1 female.Having more than one female in there is risky.Ive managed to keep 2 males and 1 female together in 1 tank.(thought i had two female)

You can't have two Betta males in a tank together or a male and a female together. Make or buy a divider and then you can have one in each half, then it doesn't matter what sex they are. Make sure the divider is higher than the water and flush with the tank lid so that they can't jump over it to get to each other.
