I am just about to install a LED lighting kit (4 x 15" LED) to my tank, which can simulate up to a million colours, however I'm only going to use up to 7 custom (memory) of them to cover dawn and dusk either side of my main aquarium lights (2x25w 30" T6). The system has up to 5 brightness levels as well. The system will be controlled by some timed macros that I'm programming on an old philips pronto universal remote that I have lying around.

I haven't got the kit yet but thought about starting it off with a very dim red and increasing the brightness over 15 mins, then changing the colour to an orange, increasing the brightness until I get up to full white when the main lights will be on. I run a 4 hour siesta in the middle so will adjust the lights to go off/on as required.

What sort of routine should I be looking at for dawn/dusk? Is a hour too long/not enough?

I can't answer your question but I have a question for you,

Where did you get the kit? I've been looking for something like it.

Hi,

No worries, I got it from www.neon-lights.co.uk but if you order via avforums.com you get discount.

I would just go with what looks best and an hour sounds good to me. For dusk it would be cool to fade to blue moonlighting.....

....Also all the color changeing you where talking about reminded me of my hot tub.... its got lights under the water that slowly go through the rainbow colors.
