Simple Light Question

I was told on here to buy T8 and about 1 watt per gallon. Well, I have a 55 gallon tank. My light hood only holds a 24 inch bulb, is there somewhere to get a bulb that fits all of my needs to fit my current fixture? Any idea's? Do I need to buy a different hood?

It depends on the wattage of the ballast that holds the bulb.
