Hi all,

Just a quick one as a long time absentee on the forum :)

The tank i set up in the laboratory in work is going great guns. Its a very simple 24inch set up with standard flouresecent bulb, internal stingray filter, malayusian trumpets, java fern attached to wood, and hair grass (or similar).

It houses 5 glow lights, 2 guppies (guppies don't seem to last long - I think the tanks pH is too low for them), 3 zebra danios, 1 pearl guorami.

Its all very basic, thin gravel substrate, 10% water change weeklym filter clean out every three weeks, single feed a day, no food weekends.

I'll provide pictures soon, but suffice to say, the java ferns are constantly pearling, the hair grass has spread off its mesh and has started to march through the gravel, the fish are stunning in colour, always active with a healthy sheen.

tbh, its the best tank I've ever doen because the maintainance is so low!

well thats the end of my selfless promotion :p I just hope my 'proper' tanks at home can be set up to run so smoothly!.

Finally some pics! :D

That looks great! There's often talk at the school where I work of setting up a tank in our library and I may just do it after seeing how simple and successful yours has been!

The tank looks awesome, and the Java Fern looks really healthy. My Java Fern is covered in black algae and IMO it looks like I burnt the plant :hey:

Hi there :)

Thanks for the comments!

I get the occasional leaf that goes bad, which detach and remove. The fish seem very happy :) and I must say the filter is excellent!!
