Hi, one of my silver tips has half of its tail fin missing...

It seems to be swimming fine though from what I can see. Will this heal itself or should i treat it? if so... what with?

Also... I'd like to know what causing it, i'm presuming fin nipping. I've taken back the Silver shark i had, so now left in there are-
-Black widows
-Neon Tetras
-Dwarf gourami (very shy)
-Harlequin Rasboras

Any ideas, solutions would be really appreciated, cheers :)

it will heal on its own in good water quality, so can we look at your stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Thats fine then wondering if they were been more aggressive due to being in a small tank.
You did the right thing taking the silver shark, bala shark, back as they need to be kept in groups and need large tanks of 90 gallons.

If the fins get worse get back to the board.

Do you have plenty of plants in the tank for the smaller fish to get away from the fin nippers.

Ok just one more question also...

I've read a lot about black widows being renound fin nippers?

I've been keeping a close eye on them, and as yet 'touch wood' they've not at all, with plenty of chance with the smaller fish in there.

When the bala shark was there, he'd chase them about a lot.. i'm worried now he's gone, the black widows mite take out there boredom on the other fish? Do you think they might?

and yes... Lots and lots of plants, with hiding caves etc

To be honest black widows are fin nippers.
Just see how they go for now.

ok cool. thanks a lot for your help. just noticed... you're in South yorks too, i'm in Leeds :)
