Silver Swimming Worm?

rite...ive got a tank that has been mature for many years and has only one inhabitant - a banjo catfish and is awaiting a crayfish. however i have not added any plants or anything to the water. i have found a silver swimming worm looking thing in my tank and it is floating around wiggling. its about 5mm long and if you look closly, has tiny black eyes! any ideas? thanks in advance summat fishy :)

I also have the same worm/lavae ? Did you find out what it was?

Yours is the only reference I have found.

But this is deff not Planaria.

Very silver (metallic almost) and acts like some sort of mosquito larvae, free swimming and at times hangs down from water surface. about 5mm long with a head.

Hi, Yes it looks like that. Silver flat tail and angular head.

I believe it to have been introduced with live Daphnia.
 
My Girlfriend's tank has one of these. It almost looks like a tiny fry except it swims vertically. I'm almost positive it's the larvae for some sort of aquatic insect.
