i have 2 of em. there pretty calm and mellowed out, sometimes they play with the siamese alge eaters. lol i think there a pretty awesome fish.

alot of people i know wont buy them coz they get big.

does anyone out there have any or had any of them?

what you think of them?

i have 5 of them, they are awesome fish, however they are very easily spooked, my largest ones are 12" and 13". i love them to bits.

I have 4 in my 150G - 2 at 12" and 2 at around 9" - they are great fish but seem to get slightly more skittish as they get older, if anything makes them really jump - they can leap out of the water and slam into the tank lid so a good solid hood is required. They grow pretty fast and will require a big tank as adults, they also do better in groups, the more the better provided the tank is big enough.

Well what i know about silver shark that they are shallow fish and they need to be in group of six and they a need a very big tank.

lol - yeah, i know, however, as weird....and in many ways 'i shouldnt have' they do all seem very healthy, and are tip top condition, you only need to see the vid for that - ive had these for many many years and all seem good.

thats awesome, ive been trying to find an excuse to buy more of them and now bam!. lol

my ones arnt that big yet, there still pretty little, ones about 7' and the other is 6ish'

i do have a bigger tank lined up, i just have to buy a few things for it. and i was well on my way to completing it and then christmas happened. Christmas + My Wallet = :-( lol

does anyone kno if they breed or anything?

Sounds amazing as has given me some ideas ;) lol

But my tanks half the size of that so would probably be a warzone,i think you did the best thing by overstocking to keep aggression down akin to a Mbuna tank.

it also helps when selecting fish, to watch them for a bit in the lfs - if your lucky, you spot the ones that appear quiet and those that fight - i am a pain when selecting fish, as with the fish i buy, i make sure i select which ones i want, and not what i get given. hell, you a paying for them. 'this rule doesnt really apply to small fish'.

I had two once, only for about 2 days though. They caught a disease at the LFS (we didn't realise), so when we brought them home they spread it and killed 10+ fish. D';. Including the amazing bristlenose, toothbrush.

Just out of interest what is the smallest tank which these should be kept in?
