Hi.

Unfortunately 3 of my Silver fish (about 6inches) suffered damage due to a 16inch clown Knifefish.
The knifefish has since been moved on as suddenley it just turned on them one night when it had been fine with them for months.

One has had its Tailfin half removed , another its sailfin is damaged but the worst of all is that two of them have had scales removed and one has a chunk out of its throat and scales ripped off down one side. Its amazing he is still with us!

I notice now that on two of them the bare skin is turning red.
Is there any hope?

Should i fish them out or hope they recover?
They have a Tiger Fish in with them but its only 5inches and does not bother them.

Can we take a look at the size of the tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
I agree the wounds have got infected.

Thanks for the replies.

I have been under the wing a bit of a 35 year experience fish keeper who has guided me in what to do. This morning they do seem to look slightly better.
I think they will pull through :good:

Cheers

it was a bad idea to put such a big ck in with little peaceful fish
what have you done with the ck?

Disagree.
knifefish are usually quite peaceful and would not attack such big sharks unless it was looking after its young. I have had 4 in the past when i shared a large tank with an old Girlfriend. Well not shared....But you know :hyper:
This one was definately different. I suspect it had grown up with smaller fish that it could attack or even eat.
Maybe it should be put in with some Milawi's to tell him about where his station is .I have two Siamese Tigers now so i would of had to have moved him on anyway.

I gave him to a maidenhead equatics centre. If you are interested send me a PM i think they where asking £40. Its a stunning fish but take note of above.

Regards

P.S.....The sharks are now well on the mend.

mines a bully and is not very peaceful with smaller fish at all,but they are all have differnent temperements i suppose.
what tigers do you have?

what tigers do you have?

micropelis (siamese) and i am not sure but i think the other might be a Indonesian.

The Indo is such a different shape and is starting to colour up now, its quite a blurred and smudgy rings which is a sure sign.
They are more aggressive than the rest and so far he definately rules the Tank!

Got him feeding out of my hand though.

:D
how big is your tank?are you getting more tigers or leaving it at 2?
how big are they?can you post some pics :good:

No, staying with just 2. My tank is big enough for more but i want other fish in there.
i have 3 silver sharks, 3 clown loaches, 1 striped Dorid and 3 spotted.

That's it. Its still a new Tank so i am having to balance out the nitrate's with the Nitrate's without water changes.
probably made a mistake by adding 2 more spotted cats, even though they are only 2 inches a piece it upped the Nitrite.

So its now a leave well alone Tank.

I will get pictures up but wait a few more weeks when things are settled. :good:
