Silver Sand And Sponge Filter?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but is it possible to have a silver sand substrate with a sponge filter?

I have no experience with sponge filters but I do know that filters may brake down once they start sucking in sand, make sure your sand is settled and not floating while your filter is on and running. What does the color matter in relation to the sponge filter?

I'm sure you would get more replies in the hardware section of the forum.

I have a sponge filter in with a sand substrate, no problems yet. I don't think sand would really affect an air driven sponge filter as all that gets the water through the sponge is the movement of air, so there are no mechanical parts between the sponge and where the water exits.

Just make sure the intake to the filter is way above the level of the sand and you should be fine.
