Hi

I have this pregnant molly and she has had this tiny little black spot on the top fin since I got her (just like an ink stain), so I didn't worried, but I have noticed that during the past weeks there is 1 little more spot at one at the side fins.

I have search for this on google but haven't found any pictures to be sure if its a desease or something. In spite of this, she is a healthy fish, she is eating very well, she plays with her partner and its very active, I havent seen her rubbing agains stuff or anything like that.

sorry but I can't post a pic since my camera broke, but I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this before

It's possible she is turning into a dalmation Molly. They usually are born white, and get black spots as they get older.

There also is a disease called Black Spot, where black spots appear, but they usually go away without bothering the fish much.

I'm betting on markings, though. :)

but she is a Silver Lyretail Molly, there are no Lyretail-Dalmatian mollies aren't there? besides she is completely white, except for the unusual spots -_- I've had them for almost 2 months, and I dont know how old they were when the LPS sold them to me, but could it be possible to change color after 3 or 4 months old????

and if it was Black Spot disease then there's nothing I could do about it then???

Yep...there are Lyretail Dalmation Mollies. I think any Molly could be a Lyretail...just a matter of genetics.

It's very possible to change color at 3-4 months old. Some Dalmation Mollies change color their whole life...getting more and more black spots. I'm pretty sure that's what is going on with your Molly.

There are a few different kinds of Black Spot disease, but if she has no other symptoms, and it doesn't appear to be bothering her, I wouldn't treat. I've heard of Danios getting Black Spot disease before, and they are always perfectly fine.

alrigth.... I hope she really is a Dalmation Lyretail Molly so there would be nothing to worry about :p I will keep a close eye on her just in case.

btw I found this page about Dalmatian Lyretail Mollies, not much info but thats a good pic to give me an idea, her top fin spots look just like that...ovbiously not that many

Thank you soo much

You're very welcome! :)

If the spots look sort of like the ones in the picture, there's no doubt in my mind it's markings. I bet she will turn out to be very pretty, too! I love Dalmations.
