i recently bought a silver molly and i think she is sick.
yesterday i noticed red marks all over one side of her face which seem to be spreading.
then out of the blue she gave birth in the early hours of the morning! (we didnt even know she was pregnant as she was not showing at all)
now she seems really dopey and keeps rolling onto her side and she cant seem to swim much. the red marks are getting worse too... is she dieing?!

oh and also she keeps 'resting in the plants' like lying down on them and breathing really fast.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Red streaking is septicemia blood poisoning, hard to cure once it's advanced.
If the fish is also rolling onto her side not good bless her.
To be honest it sounds like she dying, might be best to end her misery.
Look under septicemia.

60 litre tank - 5 tetra, red tail shark, loach, 2 guppies, 2 honey gourami's and 2 mollies (all relatively small fish at the moment)
just did a water test and seems ok - nitrate levels normal, ph may be slightly high though, around 7.6??

does blood poisoning spread to other fish? just worried about the rest of them in my tank aswel now, if i have to put a water treatment in or anything?
so u think its best to just get her out then? wat about the babies will they have it too?

thanks for ur help :)

Your tanks over stocked red tailed shark are aggressive as they get older and need 40 gallon tank.
What type of loach is the fish?

Some water changes on the tank and I think I would add a bacterial med as septicemia can leak from the fish body into the tank.

I would rehome the red tailed shark as the tank way to small.

If she breathing fast she dying so sorry bless her.

ok i will sort all that out

thanks again 4 ur help

So sorry but the fish is in a bad way.
I would rehome the shark as they are very territoral.
As for the fry the shark will eat them and the other fish, so if you want to keep them I would issolate them.
