I don't know if its normal, but I have one male and female silver molly, the male mates with her every 2-3 mins, won't this kill the female eventually?
And someimes the male hits her with his tail and puts his top fin up, then he darts around the tank attacking everything.

Livebearers need tpo bekept 2-3 females to every male so you should really go out andget another female so he canspread the attention around. If he keeps harrassing her she will get stressed, prone to disease and eventually may die.

Poor little girl, makes me feel glad I'm not a molly!

Well the male certainly enjoy's it :), and you never know maybe the female does too :hey:

I doubt it some how that she'll enjoy being stressed for 24 hours a day. You should really get another female or 2

I was joking.
Well I don't really have room in my tank, I'll see, she seems ok though, sometimes she gtes 40 secs to her self, which is enough for a fish.

If you don't do something to stop the constant mating, she'll eventually die from the stress. If you're not able to get another female or two, my recommendation is to get the female more in the mood so she's less stressed by it. The way I solved it with my male and single female swordtail is by playing Barry White music right next to the tank with the CD player on repeat mode.

Seeming OK and being OK are different things. I highly doubt she is as "OK" as she seems. You need more females, basically.

Also, are you keeping them in salt?

Salt? no they are freshwater fish.

Some molly populations come from freshwater, others from brackish or even saltwater. Their main need is a high level of TDS (dissolved minerals) in the water. If this occurs naturally in your water they'll be fine; if not, they might want added cichlid salts or similar (though not if kept with fish who cannot cope with this). The one thing you want to avoid is keeping them in soft acid water, as this is very far from what they've been designed to cope with- they will actually do better in a marine tank than in a soft blackwater one. I have found this out to my cost :(

I can only concur with remarks made on sex ratios. She may seem alright for the time being, but she will eventually get stressed, particularly when heavily pregnant, as the males will not stop hassling her for sex. I would try to swap one male for a female if at all possible.
