Silly Question

I know this is a bit stupid but just wondering if anyone knows approximatley how often does the heater turn on a day? Like 12hrs ever 24hrs for example. Because if its on like 75%+ of the time then 200-300w is a lot of power just for that considering filters air pumps only use like 5-40w.

good question.
the answer is not simple however.
it would depend on the ambient temperature of the room the tank is in.
if it is a cold room the heater will be on longer and more often
than one that is in a warm room.

I guess you wouldnt know exactly but Im in Australia and it wont come on as often as someone living in the states or the UK as it is always cold and snows in winter. Over hear it gets really hot in summer (so i guess the heater wont be on much at all) and a little chilly in winter.
