Hi can anyone answer an obvious when you know question:
How many hours a day should you leave the light on? also I have a bubble disc does this get left on all the time?
thanks.
Marion

lights depend on the corals you have in the tank or plan on having and i wouldnt bother with the air stone in a marine tank the live rock and powerheads should provide all the right stuff :good:

Usually 8-10 hours of light per day on a schedule that suits your viewing :D. Also, there's no need for salt creep making bubblers in a marine tank. Stick to powerheads for water circulation instead :)

Does an air stone help in a marine tank?

the OP put this in the beginner section too, i'd be dubious about considering this a marine set up, i think it's FW and just posted in the wrong place.

(sorry if i'm wrong!)

no most people don't use air stones in marine tanks

I have one in my marine tank. Is it worth keeping it there?

I would say...No.

What are you using it for? They can be helpful depending on there intended use. I have always got alot of airtube and a gang valve on standby, and I use them nonstop when I have higher temps. They help agitate the surface, and affectively airate water. BUT, in normal conditions, with 20+X turnover using powerheads with sufficient surface agitation, you shouldnt need to use one at all.
