i came home tonight to find my betta Boo had somehow ripped up the end of his tail
i don't know how, he's in with two albino corys that's it, and a slow filter, he was absolutely fine this morning.
very annoying because it had JUST started to grow back (he's been in with nibbley mollies at the LFS)

my question is, how to help it heal up?
i don't have a hospital tank at the moment.
i can't put salt in, because the cories are there.
can i put two drops of melafix in? would that harm the cories or the filter?

Has he been bitting his own tail, try melafix for now to see how it goes, good luck, just make sure there is no red streaks or edging to the tail.

no it's not fin rot, i suspect he has had a nibble!
naughty boo.

so melafix will be ok with the cories & filter?

I don't think any meds are needed because my bettas blow there tails all the time and I don't do anything for about a week or so then it heals on its own then they blow it again when they flare and this one betta I have blows his tail the most and now he nibbles on his fins not counting the blown fins he has he looks kinda ugly at the moment.

yeeeh i'm just wary about infections JUST IN CASE!
and on closer inspection i think my betta has had a little go at one of the corys, his dorsal fin has a bit missing!
hmm
will be keeping an eye on Boo.
and give him an ASBO and his own tank if this attitude continues!
naughty fish.
