Sillicone

Is it ok to use normal clear sillicone to attach a strip of LED lights to the inside of my hood? The sillicone will not be in contact with the water other than condensation really.

Probably better to be safe than sorry and use silicone designed for aquarium use. Would be a shame to lose all your fish for the sake of a few quid.

agree only use silicone designed for aquarium, what about zip ties would that work?

Agreed, it'll be fine. If you want to be sure, then make sure to look on the back of the tube of silicone to see if it has any anti fungal additives etc. If it doesn't then you're good to go. Aquarium silicone is just normal silicone with a giant mark up.

I assumed it would be fine once set. Zip ties are out of the question, no place to attach them on underside of hood unfortunately.
