at work we've just gotten a bunch of new tiger and red oscars in but we've noticed there are multiple sores on quite a few of the oscars. i thought that they were just beating on each other, which would have been completely normal, but there are too many sores and they're too clean to be nips from other fish. the first thing i thought that it could be was some kind of fungal infection, some of our other fish have been getting nasty bits of fin rot, but i was wondering if hole in the head, which would make more sense, could appear on any other parts of the body other than above the eyes??? the sores stay mainly around the head and gills but some appear along the body as well, near the fins. any information on what this could be and how to treat it would be greatly appreciated! thank you very much!

Some more information would be helpful, water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank, stock in tank how many and which type.

actually, we figured it out, i did some research on it and re-examined the fish and turns out they do have Hole in the Head. they actually came in from the supplier that way and our manager wasn't really happy (she was there when they came in and already knew about it). we've been gravel vacing their tanks every other day and feeding them rosy reds and red wigglers to boost their immune system and try to combat the infection, the symptoms seem to be slowing down if not stopping altogether. a few of them are pretty hopeless but we are treating the other ones. at least now i know how important clean water really is!!
