Firstly it's 400+ liters with Ammonia nil Nitrites nil. Temperature is 25C. Did a 75% water change with dechlorinator yesterday, nine other tiger barbs plus a severum are showing no trouble.

This tiger barb was spotted late this afternoon at the top of one corner of the tank, then began swimming in circles, tail up nose down and with an apparent 'S'-shape to the body. Breathing is rather labored and is flapping fins quite a lot.

Video (mobile phone quality - sorry) and pictures (the final pics are those of the affected fish).

Any ideas? He's currently all on his own in the far left corner at the very top although he is not gasping for air.

Another video - shows better his S-shape swimming in circles.

Bless him.
He looks like he's dying to me.
How old is he as the spine can bend with old age.

He and nine others were bought less than one month ago.

I should add he is continuing to do the same swimming patterns, and still not feeding.

It might be best to end his misery.

Bent spine can be old age, vitamin deficiency, fish tb, internal parasites, injury.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I thought it right to tell you all he survived without any treatment (no idea what to treat with after-all) and appears back to normal within his clan of nine others. Can't tell him from the others.

I feel awful now telling you to end his misery.
Bless him. Is his spine back to normal.
Or was he just bending it at times into and s shaped, as sometimes that can be a symtom of bacterial infection to internal parasites.
