okay here we go again i have another illness. one of my female platy's (in the 20gal tank) started acting very strange lastnight. She was at the top corners breathing then acting lethargic. This morning she is sitting at the bottum resting there and super super skinny. I just placed her in my other tank along with the other platy and she is sticking to the top still. She also has a yellow colour to her now (she is all white usually) is this a parasite or disease please tell me so i can treate the issue and also for future outbreaks. ty.

Sure it's not her natural yellow colour coming through.
If not is she flicking and rubbing against objects in the tank.
Has she lost weight due to giving birth.
Being skinny can mean a numbers of things old age, fish tb to internal parasites.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Is he anus enlarged or red and inflamed

no flicking or rubbing
she is naturally white not yellow, it's actually a yellow with a tiny tink of red to it like blush
no birthing here
her anus is slightly enlarged
not sure what her poo is like she hasn't pooed.

looks like blood under the skin but its very very light

just read about the Invertebrate parasites: Nematodes. she doesn thave anything like that described.

She has some signs being skinny and a swollen anus, don't always see the worms prutruding from the anus.
Had guppys everytime they had long stingy white poo.
Been through it so no how you feel.

she is going on her side now she will die shortly i'am sure of this
but now that we are speaking of this, my last platy died with a darkness on its anus and another died of the exact same issue, very skinny. i will keep reading on this parasite and hopefully it will go away and not infect my tetras.

They won't go away they pass them onto the other fish in the tank.
Even if another fish sucks some poo up they can get infected that way too.
I would try and get a wormer if you can.

my male platy is showing a sign of dark red spot near his gonopodium, okay so i'll need to treate the entire tank with meds before adding more fish correct????

Yes.
Be a waste of money buying new fish while you have internal parasites.
You can bet on your life if you buy new livebearers that they have internal worms, I learnt the hard way.
Only bought some guppys a year back as I had an internal wormer.

it says i need to bring my PH down to 7.0 for any meds to work, how do i do this exactly?

Alot of hassle if you have to fetch ph down as the wormer will only work in a certain ph.
You can add peat to the filter.
Then when finished the med just remove the peat.

i guess i made a mistake adding the platy to the new 10gal tank, it's probably infested now :(

time to do a total knock down wash again!
