My one and only Oscar has delveloped an illness. His (i think its a "he" atleast, leave that for another thread) lips have turned white and look like they're decaying or rotting. Anyone run into a similar problem with their fish and could share how they dealt with it?
Thanks in advance, Friendofish

Without seeing pics or having any other info to go on, I would say its, mouth fungus/columnaris.

Whereabouts are you? If in the UK, you need Myxazin and Pimafix, in the US, Macaryn One and Macaryn Two.

Can you tell us what else is in the tank, size of tank in litres, water stats, ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte, any new fish added recently, how long has he has this?

With columnaris, you need to lower the temp a little as well, but get the meds as soon as you can and dose accordingly.

how old is the fish?
are you sure its not where the oscar has been picking up gravel/stones/'sucking' the glass?

since my oscars hit sexual maturity they love cleaning and moving things, this often leads to a white fluffy appearance around the mouth where they have scrapped it, which heals quickly as long as water conditions are perfect and water is clean.
