My oscar is about 14 in. long, approximatly 6 yrs old, this mornong i see a red bump on his gill and one fin, no idea how to treat it or what it is,, ANY IDEAS?
Sorry i dont know to attach a pic,

Topical medication can be applied, such as hydrogen peroxide, or formalin/formaldehyde solutions, or used as a bath/dip. Antibiotics, particularly those that can be absorbed internally (tetracycline, erythromycin and nitrofurazone are not effective treatments). Antibiotic-treated food.

You could upload a pic to photobucket.com. It will give you codes under the pic after downloaded. Choose image code and paste it in you reply. Really need to determine what it is before treating it. Any changes in behavior ?

A pic would be good.
How big is the lump on the gills.
With the lump being red it sounds bacterial.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
