Two of my new mollies are sick. The male was stuck to the filter intake tube this morning. He wasn't dead and I got him off the filter and isolated him and the white female. I'm treating them with a fungus clear thing but I'm not sure what is wrong with them. My water stats in my tank are fine and I just did a partial water change yesterday. The guppies and the black molly are doing GREAT! I'm not sure what's up with the two white ones. Are they normally weaker fish?

I'm not sure the male will survive, though he has perked up since I began treatment. I'm hopeful, but I'm not sure what to do as I'm not certain what is wrong with them. They aren't showing any white spots or anything (not that I can see, though they are white so it's difficult). Their fins are not rotting, they aren't bloated or anything. I did notice the female was clamping her fins a bit which is why I put them in the fungus clear stuff. Is there anything else I can do? I really don't want to lose them . . . but that's what I get for purchasing them at Wal-Mart in the first place!

I would have purchased them from my lfs, but they didn't have any white ones. :(

Am I doing all I can? or is there something else I need to do to save them?

I am really surprised that they are both still alive! I really thought that the male at least would die as he was stick on the filter intake. I'm so happy that they are still here! Hopefully they will make it! :D I still wish I knew what was wrong with them though. :/

brings back memories for me, i had a black lyretail molly, and one day he had no back tail and was stuck in the filter intake. i took him out and used the fungus clear too. after a month of him getting worse, and was always stuck on the filter, i had to put him down. wasnt pretty. anyway i hope u do better than me. btw the rest of the tank amtes were a little sick but were better after the fungus clear by jungle.

Putting down a fish

There are several ways. u can put it in vodka or clove oil. also ice water with ice cubes. it only lasts about 3 seconds. there are big debates on these and we have all come to the conclusion of to each his own. also u can smash the head with a hammer. kinda gross no?

My male died, but the female is still hanging in there for now. Hope she makes it. :(

Add some marine salt into her tank, and make the water slightly brackish. She may perk up. I wish I could have seen this post sooner, it might have saved your male. Sorry. :X But good luck with your girlie.

So will the guppies and platies be alright with marine salt or will it kill them? The female molly is currently in a small hospital tank with a guppy and a platy.

They'll be fine. :) Ideally you might want to seperate the Mollies eventually, but for now, the other fish will be fine. Just increase the salinity gradually, so it's not too much of a shock.
