Tank size: 10 US Gal
pH: 8.4 -8.6
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0- 10
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 76F- 79F

Fish Symptoms: Only one neon has a problem. The fish looks fine but it appears to be having trouble staying afloat. It hangs out away from the other neons, and it didn't eat the last time I fed them. No white patches or any discoloration.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 20% - 30% 1 per week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: None

Tank inhabitants: 3 Red Glow Danios, 1 Fan tail Gold fish, and 4 neons

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 4 neons and 2 red glow danios within past 3 weeks

Also I have a chronic brown algea problem. I am not sure how to get rid of it other than scraping. Ideas on that would be helpful too.

I'm not one to lecture you because I'm new to all this myself but I was pretty sure you shouldn't have a goldfish in a tropical tank?

Wilder is the woman to speak to if you're concerned about the health of one of your fish, maybe you could try PM'ing her?

Goldfish in a tropical tank is not advised at all as they then are more active eat more and then poop more resulting in alot of ammonia. Your Neon tetra might have Neon tetra disease which I think is untreatable and matches your simptoms. :(

It sounds like swim bladder to me, what do you feed the fish.
Yes the tank is too small for a goldfish they are masssive waste producers, they need a 20gal for the first goldfish, then 10gal for every other one added, also they need excellent filters.
As for the neon i would try some shelled peas.

Well, I'm not sure what the deal was, but it started to look better the next day and now it appears to be doing just fine. I did not give any meds or anything; however, I will be keeping an eye on it to see it's progress. Hopefully you will be happy to know that goldfish is going to be getting it's own home, just as soon as it cycles.

I appreciate the help and quick responses.
