I have a 3 imch male Krib who has become very static and hides over the last few days. He is not very interested in the other fish in the tank and show little interest at feeding time. I flicks his body occasonally, and I have seen him go frantic flaring his gills and thrashing about once then returning to hiding. There are no other obvious signs of illness, his fins are fine, no visible irritations. The female krib doesn't interest him either and they have always had a firey relationship.

Any ideas? I think he might die if I can't think of anything.

when's the last water change you did? do you know your tank stats? "flicking" him will only stress him and make him insecure--leading to more hiding/listlessness.

if he's spending all of his time in a cave, there is a good chance that he's watching over a brood (or thinks he is). try shining a flashlight in there to look for eggs.

Don't worry I am not flicking him! He is flicking his body like a little flinch. He spends most of his time, behind the cave, not interested in who goes in and out so I don't think he is defending anything. He seems to be gasping. All my other fish are fine. I did a water change on Friday, the parameters are all normal, no ammonia etc.
