one of my Keyhole Cichlids has a milky film over one of its eyes its swimming around happily and eating well still, does anyone have any ideas what it could be and what to treat it with. it looks like a cataract

Water Stats

Ammonia = 0

Nitrite = 0

Nitrate = 15

Does the eye look milky or cloudy looking.
has he caught his eye on anyting in the tank.
is just one eye affected.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Any excess mucas on his body or gills.
Any white specs behind the lens of the eye.

the eye looks cloudy rather than milky.

i do have plastic plants so it cant be ruled out.

Keep a close eye on him and for now I would just half dose some melafix.
Can you issolate him.

Cloudy eye is not a desease in its own right its a symtom of one.
Causes.
Injury.
Old age.
Poor diet.
Stress.
Irratation.
Parasites.
Bacterial.
 
I'll try some Melafix and see how it gets on. thanks for your help and advice.
 
Good Luck.
Just try half dose of the melafix as not all fish tolerate it to well.
