Sick Guppy?

I have a 50L tank

stocked with 2 male guppies
2 small danio
5 cardinal tetra

and at the moment 4 dalmation molly fry (about 3 days old in a net)

My tank stats are:
Amonia 0
nitrAte <40 (was 0 yesterday)
nitrIte 0
PH 8
KH 180
GH 180
Temp 79

One of my guppies looks like someone has taken a silver pen and drawn fine lines on his spine extending down both sides of his body - should I be worried about this?

I did a 50% water change on xmas eve and am thinking i need to do another one now if my nitrates are going up. Do the nitrate levels maybe have something to do with my guppy looking silver?

Help please!!!!

Its quite weird that your nitrates have gone from 0 to 40 in just 24hrs, have you added anything like plant fertilisers to the tank? Was the substrate dirty when you did the water change and did you clean the filter at all?

With the silver lines, are they the same shape and are they more grey than silver in colour? Can you get any pics of the guppy?

No I have not added anything to the tank - just fed and chatted to my fish as normal the substrate? (from under the gravel you mean?) was a bit grubby but nothing major and no I didn;t clean the filter.

yes they are the same shape - some a little longer than others but all just straight lines from his spine down the side of his body. I will try and get a pic if I can.
