hello, im new to this site, and im pretty new to having a fish tank, i have had it for about 2 months. a couple days ago i used my rock cleaner to clean up the bottom of the tank. i would say that i took out around half of the tanks water. so neways, i noticed that one of my gourami's was acting funny, he is jsut sittin on the bottom of the tank, still breathing stong. he had been doing this for 2 days. and today when i went in he was still doing it, so this is day 3, and he swam upto the top for some food, but then just went back to the bottom...he moves around the tank a little bit too but is always back to laying on the bottom....what do i do?!

Can you post test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, also what is the ph of your tap water to the tank water.

Did you use dechlorinator?

Also, never change 50% of the water during a water change.
Unless your chemicals are high or tank is unsightly, a water change of about 30% per month is all that is needed.

thanks for the tips :) i live in the country, so there shouldnt be any chemicals in my water, but mayb metals and minerals? i got some new stuff for the tank, its called "cycle" and it helped him alot, the day after i put it in he was back to swimming around like normal, that was last week, and now hes back to acting weird again, so i put some more of the stuff in (it says its for weekly use) so does this mean that i wil have to keep putting it in every week to keep him seemingly happy and heatlhy?
