Hi, I thought I had posted this the other day but cannot find it now, so apologies if I am duplicating.
My small orange gourami (bought as an orange thick lipped but I am not sure if he is that or a dwarf) has not been right for a while.
He has to rest a lot and swims vertically up for air, though he can swim straight as well. He is still eating well. when he rests he is absolutely still - in fact he looks dead. He has no obvious signs of illness, though his colour isn't very deep/bright and one tentacle is slightly frayed.
He lives in a community tank (220ltr) with gouramis, catfish, rainbows, penguin tetras, plec and ruby shark. He is not bullied.
I have not got the tank stats with me as I am writing this, but the parameters are usually fine - nil nitrite, pH around 7.5. Nitrates sometimes rise but I do frequent water changes to try and combat this. Phosphates are also a bit of a problem.
Apart from the water changes I have been adding ESHA 2000.
I am not sure what else to do so any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks
