Last week I woke up to find my dwarf Gourami lying on his side on the bottom of my tank. As far as I could tell he had some sort of internal infection, so I moved him to my hospital tank and drugged him up with maracyn 2. The next day I noticed some fungus growing from a small wound in his side, and I treated him for that too. The medications seem to have worked. The problem now is that he still won't eat. I've tried to feed him several times every day for over a week, but he just stares at the food until it sinks down to the bottom to rot. I could really use some suggestions regarding how I should handle this. He seems intent on starving himself to death.

I had the water from both my main tank and my hospital tank tested, and they're fine.

The thing is, dwarf gouramis are very prone to internal infections. Did he show any signs og discomfort, or anything out of the ordinary before you saw him laying down like this?

What I would do is to begin tempting him with his FAVORITE foods. I don't know how normal my gourami is, the most interest i've seen in him (over the past 5 days of having him) is suprisingly for algae tablets. Go figure. Try peas, shrimp pellets, frozen foods, especially blood worms, flakes, anything you can think of. Also, when food isn't eaten, make sure you remove it so it doesn't decay leading to an ammonia problem.
