Sick Gold Ram

hi all im worried about my wee gold ram, he has developed a single white spot on the top of his head for 2-3days. He is usually a very curious and happy fish always following me around the tank when im checking everything else out. But now hes just hiding in amonst the plants at the back of the tank.
Last night i treated with "Interpet anti bacterial" and have kept the light off, could he just be getting a bad reaction to the white spop making him very timid. All tank peramitors are normal and have been for several months, cant think why hes developed this.

What temperature are you keeping him at and with what other fish? I'm guessing its below 28oC?

Thanks for the replies, yes i beleave his spot to have turned into a hole in his head, also there is a bit of redness to it. Ive just dosed again with Interpet anti bacterial again (2nd dose) but it looks like something that cant be rectified Am i right in saying i should put him down??


In the tank are neon tetra a betta and peper corys (no problems with any fish as discussed in a previous thread), the water temp is sitting on the high side for these fish at 25C all water perameters are perfect and tank and has been cycled for a few months this being my only problem.


There was a power outtage last week for 12hours which i beleave killed my other ram, there was a trace of ammonia but i did a large water change (water went to room temp and no filtratation, airation for the duration ot this time). Could this problem on my last ram be caused by this also??

the temperature is the problem, its way too low, it should be atleast 28 with 30oC being preferable, but the other fish won't appreciate it.

well today ive noticed the little gold ram getting worse, the hole in his head seems to have got larger/rougher in apearance he is now staying at the surface and hasnt ate any food (usually he munched his all down). Ive to do a third dose of Interpet anti bacterial on friday. Should i put him down now or hold off until then??? its just i think hes getting worse

is this disease contagous to the other fish

Stop the med it's not doing anything.

It depends if the spot bacterial or hole in the head desease.

There a waterlife med for hole in the head but don't know how good it is.

If it's bacterial you need antibiotics from a vet.
Antibiotics should be used in islation as they wipe the beneifical bacteria out in the water.
