I recently got a 70litre tank, the tank was set up for eight days to settle i bought 10 neon tetra's and 5 black skirt tetra's, the following week i added 4 sword tails, 4 scissor tails, & 2 black shark (all were reccommended by staff in the shop) they've been together now for around 12 days but in the first week 3 neon's were dead, and since the second week when i added more fish 2 scissor tails & one black shark have also died & the black skirt tetra's all have white spots on them since today can anyone help me with this please??

It sounds like your tank is'nt cycled. Look up the thread in this fourum on cycling. The Neons are really sensitive to water quality so they will go fairly quickly if your water is not good quality. Post your water stats What is your Ammonia levels, NitrIte and NitrAte. Also PH.

Your The Black skirt tetra's have white spot. Bad water quality and stress can brin this on. You need to treat them because this will spread to the rest of yur fish.

can you tell me how exactly to go about treatin the black skirt tetra's??? i dont have a testing kit yet, i followed the instruction given to me when i bought the tank and i replaced the top white filter since then 3 fish have died and the spots appeared on them!!

can you tell me how exactly to go about treatin the black skirt tetra's??? i dont have a testing kit yet, i followed the instruction given to me when i bought the tank and i replaced the top white filter since then 3 fish have died and the spots appeared on them!!

No need to replace any filter media. the filter needs to be clonised by beneficial bacteria that processes Ammonia and NitrIte, then into less harmfull NitrAte. I would als take with a pinch of salt the advice given by your lfs. You need to g out and buy individual Api Test kits because it is better to buy them that way. Test your water and post the stats.

You also need to add some anti white spot treatment to your tank. The instructions are easy to follow too. Turn up your tank temp to 28 Deg C it will work better.

Something else i forgot to mention do 30 - 50% water change every day to control ammonia levels. Make sure you declorinate the water.
