Can anyone help diagnose what is killing my fish??
Tank size: 60L
pH: 7.5
ammonia: 0.0
nitrite: 0.0
nitrate: 25-50
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 26
The tank is new (three weeks old) and the ammonia & nitrite levels have been fluctating (ammonia not higher than 0.1, nitrite hit 0.5) although these levels are now ok. Nitrate levels still high.
I originally had 4 Guppies and things were fine until I introduced 2 new Guppies.. one who very quickly became ill with the symptoms being:
Tails seem to be getting smaller and smaller until eventually the fish swims in an upright position and hangs arount the bottom of the tank. First fish to pass away developed white patches on the body but near the tail prior to death.
Of the two fish I purchase one died and the other seems to be absolutely fine... the other fish have now also started to get ill and despite adding treatment last night one of them had died by this morning.
At first I thought this may be fin rot... but then the two who have died have bent slightly in the middle (could this be TB??) started swining upright and also developed white fungal patches (whitespots??) Yet I can't explain why one of the new fish seems to be perfectly fine ??? can anyone help diagnose ??
Volume and Frequency of water changes: 10% every two days as tank is new and fish are dying
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: yesterday added Melafix
Tank inhabitants: 4 Guppies (was six)
4 nerite snails
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): 2 Guppies
Exposure to chemicals:
Digital photo (include if possible):
