Just a question... If you had a sick fish, or sick fishes and it just didnt seem like they were getting better after trying to fix them... What would you do? They dont seem to be getting better and is making my healthy fish sick...
Thanks -_-

Try a bit harder? Seriuosly. Do whatever you can before you even think of doing something you'll regret.

Have you got a spare tank you could move the sick fish to? What's wrong with them, maybe we can help?
I dont have another tank I can move them to and I just cant afford to go out and buy another. I just dont have any room at the moment either :(
I have made various posts about my sick fish as well. Some of them have white poop. Some of the ones with white poop are just chilling at the bottom of the tank in the gravel but than they swim around like normal. One of thoese fish is really skinny and another one has a very swollen belly.
Thanks :-(

Got to admit it, that's something we (bones and loafy) can't answer but this forum is full of helpful people (and some smart asses)

We'll have a look at our fish books and reply later

Get some books if you haven't already, we've bought some good ones (all good condition) from ebay
Interpet Manual of Fish Health 99p
Interpet Encyclopaedia of Tropical Fishes 2.99
and a few others for around a quid the Interpet Manual of Fish Health is a really good book.

Told you there were smart asses

Good luck

Rich

Haha, thanks :fun:

Think we might have it, dropsy

I'll type a bit of it for you to see what you think

Caused By
Bacterial and/or viral infections, also metabolic or nutritional disorders.

Obvious Symptoms
Markedly swollen belly, protruding scales, reddening at vent or base of fins, ulcers on body, and long, pale faecal casts. Affected fish may go off their food and show darkening of colouration, pale gills and a 'pop-eyed' appearance. Fluid may accumulate in the body cavity, with discolouration of internal organs.

The treatment bit is a bit long winded but i'll give you the lowdown
check water conditions, make sure they are ok, isolate fish, feed only best possible food. If symptoms do not improve treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic or similar.

I've just copied from a book here so the credit for this goes to the writers of the Interpet Manual of Fish Health for this one.

Again good luck
Rich

See the thing is, is that only one of my fish (the guppy) has a swollen belly with white poop. The other ones have white poop, one which is skinny and some that are not...
Could only one of my fish have dropsy?
Thanks

They have had this a long time as i remember replying, you have tryed meds on them to no avail, bloated and skinny and white stringy poo can be internal parasites, I would strip the tank down as it's probably affected the whole tank by now, and sometimes you have to get rid of the affected fish, as you have tryed meds on them and it hasn't worked, and internal parasites can be very hard to cure, and livebearers are prone to them.

You've triggered off a memery here, a while ago two of my Zebra Danios got sick, one of them was clearly dropsy (fat belly, protruding scales) and the other was very skinny, as it died and no others shwed any symptoms we took it no further.

Sorry I can't be any more help

Rich

White poop is normally a sign of internal parasites.

It does sound like only the bloated fish has dropsy though, or at least it's the only identifiable case of dropsy at the moment.

Have you been treating with internal parasites medications?

Yes, Ive been using the tablets and the medicated food. I lost 2 of my mollies and 1 of my neons now... :-( The guppy with the blosted tummy is still alive but he does not have scales coming off. He seems to be fine, like hes eating and swiming with the others... Im in the process of trying to get another tank but even if i get it i have no where to put it so,.... :(
