I noticed a bit ago that one of my girls in one of the sororities wasn't doing to go, I took her out and put her in a small (1/2 gallon) quarantine container. I noticed on her side on her belly she has a large wound, its not bleeding, but there are no scales and you can clearly see the flesh underneath. She's gasping and floating on her side, she's trying to swim but can't seem to. I've given her a bit of IAL (indian almond leaf) extract, aquarium and salt and wound ease. I'm debating euthanizing her cause she really seems like she's suffering, but I don't want to if there's something else I can do! Please help!

If she was mind I would just use clean water and IAL, I would think the salt would hurt her wound. No expert though. She might be ok...give her a day or so :good:

Sounds like the wound got infected and now she has advanced bacterial infection, sorry not sounding to hopeful.

gah, I can't believe it got infected so fast, think I should euthanize her or give her a bit more time?

Once they lose there scales open to infection, the bacteria in the tank enters the fish.

Here's a pic of her. She only stays on this side, the wound facing up. The other side looks normal.

Sorry but laying to oneside and laboured breathing are signs of a dying fish.

How is she now.
