Hi

I have owned a tank now for about 2 months with no problems, however this last week or so I have found a few fish with white spot. I am treating this with Melafix which so far does not seem to be working. I have 4 Gouramis and one of the female seems to be hiding and not really swimming much. I have also noticed that her back fin is not in good condtion at all also there is a black mark near the back fin. I am trying to feed her but she is so slow the other fish take the food beofre she has a chance. Appart from all of the above her belly seem to be really flat!

Do you know what could be causing this and is there anything I can do?

Melafix is no good for whitespot it's only an antiseptic for cuts and wounds.
Turn temp up to 30 and increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.
Remove black carbon.
Read instructions carefully that you can add the full whitespot med.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate, and ph.
Black patches can be ammonia burns that are healing.
