I have had my dogface puffa for 4 months now and he has got very poorly. He is covered in white powder like all over his body and is staying a dark grey colour rather than his bright white colour. He just wants to hide and is not eating much either. I have set up a qt for the little one but he aint looking good. He is normally housed in a 480l tank with 2 rena xp3 filters with uv, aquamedic 1000 turbofloater skimmer with ozone. Can any one help !!!!

It sounds like marine ich, Unfortunately, I don't have much experience in this department. However, I do know that if you can get him into a quarantine tank, there are medications you can use to treat it. Some of them are copper based and you want to avoid putting it in the main tank as it can kill inverts. SH

Hi,

I am no expert but have a dogface and a porc. When ich has been a problem I have used garlic capsules in the food and it has done the trick.

Buy the capsules from the healthshop and then squeeze onto the food. bit messy and stinky, but worth the effort

P.S My dogface(Ringo) styas in his cave alot he is a very private fish. whereas my porc(Frank) is a lunatic and is always swimming about smiling :D

I totally agree with the above.
My dogface is also very reclusive, while Porky is always swimming around the front of the tank.

Be sure to check all your water parameters in the main tank, and rule out any other causes of stress - overcrowding/aggression etc.
