I have had problems for the last week with a sick cory. He has a buoyancy problem and I treated him for Constipation which seemed to work. I had him out of the 29 gal tank for a couple of days, put him back on Thursday afternoon and he seemed to be doing fine and was swimming with the other 3 corys and appeared to be eating. Everything was fine until Sunday morning when I noticed that he was once again struggling to lay still on the bottom. A couple hours later he was back floating at the top of the tank with his tail down and head and belly up. I put him in a breeder box (about 4 inches deep, 3" x 6") with about a half inch above water so he could get to the top if he needed to. He would lay at the top, tail down, belly up and then just drift slowly to the bottom with out moving. He would even lay that way on the bottom for a few seconds. He is still struggling and continues to have problems staying still at the bottom. He floats up or more often over onto his side every time he gets still. I don't think it is constipation as there is plenty of trash which I assume is poop on the bottom of the box. There is very little way for anything else to get into the box so I don't think it came from outside. I'm beginning to wonder if this is more serious such as a bladder infection and if there is anything that can be done. If there isn't anything that can be done for him, I would rather euthanize him and not have to watch him struggle and suffer. Thanks in advance for any advice.
PS, the other 3 corys have been in there for a week and are doing fine. All water parameters are fine. I also have gotten a big Cyanobacteria problem. Could eating that cause a problem for him? It doesn't seem to have effected the others.

The fish sounds in a bad way i think it might be to late to medicate, if you do decide issolate the fish and use a strong antibiotic but I dont think the fish is up to it.

What is the best type antibiotic to use? Also, I noticed this morning that he gets to where he can lay around ok but then goes to the top and I guess gets air. Suddenly, he's back in that same fix of floating up.

Tetracycline but I think he's to bad it might quicken his death up though, I would only use that antibiotic if you can issolate the fish as it destroys the bacteria colony in your filter.

He now has been in the breeder box for almost 60 hours now and is begging to show normal signs again. He is swimming around quite a bit with a lot of sudden bursts like he is trying to find a way out. He goes to the top and gets air but now has no problem going back to the bottom and laying still. he no longer floats back up. I think I will feed him tomorrow morning (about 70 hours without food) and see how he is when I come home. If he is still ok., I guess I'll assume it was a constipation problem and not swim bladder. I am pretty much at a loss. Should I maybe try a milder antiotic just incase. Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to isolate him other than in the breeder box in the tank. I plan to get a 5 gal hospital/quarantine tank this weekendand start it cycling. Thanks Wilder for the advice.

I would take him out of the net as the stress won't help him recover, try him with a shelled pea, good luck.
