Hi All,

One of my corries doesn't look too well. I found him today and he looks really swollen. His eyes are bulging out and he has cysts hanging off him that look almost like eggs. Anyone heard of this before?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Need alot more info I'm afraid.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
If the eyes are bulgingi out it sounds like popeye.
Can you describe the cysts as I don't know what you mean, what colour are they, do you mean there hanging out of the anus.

Thanks for the reply Wilder.....

Tank is 85L and has been established for well over 3 years

Mixed comunity tank, 4 x corries, 1 x dragon goby, 6 x pleco's, 1 x ghost knife, 2 x clown loach, 3 x tetra

I'll get reults for the water tests tomorrow.....

The cysts are clear and are located near the top fin, they litteraly look like eggs! I've been keeping fish for quite some years now and i've never seen this before.... Popeye was my first guess, but the Cysts and swolen body threw me off.... I was gonna start treating with some melafix but as i've never seen this before i thought I better get a bit of advice.....

Your tanks overstocked for a 85 litre.
The clown loach and black knife fish need large tanks.
What type of plecs are they.
I would get your water tested at the lfs and them to write the readings down for you.
You will need a bacterial med for the popeye, the swollen body is dropsy, popeye and dropsy go hand in hand because of the build up of fluids.
