Hello everyone,
I have a cichlid problem but am a little unsure of how to describe it. I have a picture of one of my cichlids that would show it. However, I do not know how to get pictures onto this post. The caudal fin shows the splotches the most. I do not think that it is ick. They look like white protrusions. If someone can tell me how to post pictures I can show the fish. For now I put the picture on as my picture...so if you click on my name it should go to my profile and you can see the picture.

Okay I think it is a fungus. I was wondering if anyone knew what the best medication is? And if there is anyway to get something I can put in the water and not directly onto the fish?

I would do 10% water changes every day for a few days .

Esp. if the fish seems fine .

Is he swimming ok ?

Is his breathing o.k ?

You don't think I should put medication? It won't spread? They are swimming fine and they seem to be breathing regular.

then you should try the water changes , ime , they work well .

Meds are great , but really as a last resort .

Water changes will improve your fishes health , and help it fight off whatever that is , sometimes meds can stress a fish .

Is it possible it could be ick? I thought ick was just spots...but this looks fuzzy or crusty. :dunno:

Hi Alicia , I 'm sorry to see here your fish is still ill take a look at these pinned topics , and maybe post in that forum , the water changes didn't help ?

Maybe reading these topics can help you find the problem .

I'm not sure but I think it is going away!!! So I'm guessing the water changes helped Thanks!!!

Good for you , I'll do extra water changes at the first signs of illness anyday , sometimes it isn't enough :( , but most of the time it works well .

One of my Ram's no longer has any of the white marks...however the other three still have white on them...and I believe one of my neons has a little bit on his fin :-( I'm going to get an quarantine/hospital tank...besides water changes what else can be done? Stress coat? Aquarium Salt? :byebye:
