Please can someone help, my fully grown convict started acting strangly a week or two ago. He looked as though his head was heavy and was placing it on the bottom of the tank, now he is totally vertical in the tank, head down. I have also just noticed that some of his scales seem to be sticking out along his underside. I was advised to use revitaliser tonic, however this has made no difference. I would realy like to try and save this fish if it is possible. Any help gratefully received

Hi Kris and welcome to the forum. :hi:

It sounds like swim bladder or constipation. You can try to feed him a cooked pea with the skin removed. That acts as a laxative and will possibly clear up the problem.

I am going to move your thread to the Emergency forum where you should get more help. Good luck.

If scales are sticking out its dropsy, organ failure when scales stick out, they rarely make it once scales stick out.
Epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out, bacterial med.

To be honest I would be prepared for the worst.
Scales are sticking out and the fish is headstanding not good.

I had a ranchu goldifsh loved him to bits he swelled up and no matter what I did I couldn't save him, I know how you feel.
The fish sounds to far gone to me.
Fingers crossed and good luck.
