NO! if you are going to end a fishes torment cut its head off with a knife quickly, upseting i know, but for the fish it is the quickest and most painless way!
But it will probably die anyway if it is a swim bladder problem. Is it lieing on the bottom and then trying to swim every so often?

for swim bladder infections people often boil and peel peas, chop them in to little bits that the tetra could easily eat

also an epsom salt bath might help

Most of the deatsh i have ever had have been swim bladder related, but if there is a next time i will certainly give that a go. Does it cure them or just keep them alive longer?

Thanks 1ncubu5, Ive Fed Him Some Peeled/Chopped Peas, Lets See What Happens

The peas clean them out which laeves room for the swim bladder. It cures them very well, but they have to eat several of them. You need to mush it up though. I use every time mine get it an dit works like a charm.
