my little boy isnt looking good. he hasnt ate for 2 days. he is pale(he is a oplaque which is white but he looks really white (hes creamy colored usualy)) . my mom think he looks swollen i think so too he is kinda puffy looking . and he is gasping at the bottom. he rarely has come up.im worried about my baby he isnt flaring at the doorknob!

Does he have a swollen belly (the area at his ventral fins, in front of his anal fin)? Are there any marks on his body? Looking straight down at him, do his scales look kind of like a pinecone? Does he struggle to get to the top? Is he laying on his side on the bottom? Is he breathing hard?

We really need more information before we can help you.

no, pine coning but he is breathing hard and he looks swollen not sure if bloated but sure swollen. also the temp is 76 degrees and the amonia is low.he does have difficulty. i jsut had Ani die of dropsy i hope my lightning doesnt have it.

Has he been eating? Or are there any marks or discolorations at all anywhere on his body? It's best to look with a flashlight.

ok i havent seen him this morning but last night and he had pineconing ...not another one to dropsy..what am i doing wrong i just lost ani to dropsy i prolly have lost lightning too...

When you say the ammonia was low, was it 0 or were trace amounts? what are your nitrites?
For dropsy i would go get some anti internal bacterial med and some peas and stop feeding him anything high protein like bloodworms/tubifex/daphinia etc.

well one i am anti meds(i cant help it my mom wont let em by any) and i dont feed live food i feed hikari betta pellets. i think he might of died i am not sure i am on my main comp becuase my laptop broke down and i didnt get to check my mom's room (thats alge king/lightning's palace) does the alge cause it? he gets horrible alge in his tank.oh yeah amonia is zero as of last night at 6:10pm ILL time

Must test for ammonia and nitrites and post you the results as you could have somthing amiss in your water and bad wate quality can lead to dropsy, on the other hand he could have had internal bacteria in which case you must get some med as nothing else cures it and it can lead to many more things than just dropsy...
Try feed him some cooked de-shelled peas as this will help him ensure he has a good digestive system as constipation usually goes hand in hand with dropsy and can either cause it or be caused by it. He may not take any interest on the peas at first but cut down on his other food and he should eat them, its for his own good.

well ...i just checked.. little doorknob lover has died...he passed on earlier and its really saddening. im going to miss him soo much.

Sorry for your loss, rest in peace little betta...
If you want to use his old tank, i would clean out the whole thing with hot water and give it a fresh start as if it was internal bacteria, it'll easier doing that than treating than tank for ages.

i pitched the tank. its cursed. i had another betta in it before and he died (the one on my avatar(gus)) i think he had a salt overdose and stress and that killed him so then i got lightning. now he is dead from dropsy
