I saved a betta from an abusive home today. Prior to me taking her, she was poked with a spoon, fed goldfish flakes, kept in the Petco container, and had her water changed daily with no water conditioner. I'd like to know if this is something I should be concerned about or if it's just me worrying. So, here's the form:

Tank size: 1 gallon temp, used to be 3 cups
pH: 7.5
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 10
kH: unsure
gH: unsure
tank temp: 75 f

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
3 black spots on her side, and one on her upper lip. She's active and swimming fine. I don't know how her appetite is, as she hasn't eaten yet because she's still settling in. I noticed these before I even moved her to her tank

Volume and Frequency of water changes: new to tank - a few hours? So, none yet

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: none

Tank inhabitants: just her

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): her

Exposure to chemicals: Prime, i guess. otherwise, nothing

Could it be this
Black Spot Black Spot, or diplopstomiasis, often follows the addition of new aquarium fish. All fish are susceptible, especially the Silver Dollar and Piranha. It is fairly easy to diagnose and treat.

Symptoms Small black spots on the body.

Treatment Black spot is generally easy to cure. There are a number of commercially available treatments and preventatives.

i was told black spot was a marine disease, not freshwater?

I don't now about that but it sais that piranhas and silver dollars can get it and they are fresh water, but to me it looks more like natural coloration

oh how I hope it's just natural coloring.. I'm amazed at the condition she is in considering where she came from, so, I guess I keep waiting to see whats wrong

If the spots being to develop at an alarming rate and she has a much different behaviour to wear she becomes lethargic and does not care for food then I would consider a treatment

Update: she has a silvery sheen to her gills. Should I be concerned??
