So I recently purchased a red male betta fish. I bought him saturday, and put him in the tank on sunday. At first he seemed fine and active, now he just seems sick, or something, i don't know? he just sits on the bottom now most of the time. it's hard to believe he'd be sick already, seeing how I just got him. Or maybe he's just bored? Could he have been sick prior to purchase due to Petco mistreatment?

Please post your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, hardness, temperature), description of the set-up (dimensions, volume, stock, how long it has been set up for) and maintenance schedule.

He could of been ill when you brought him and the move to a new home made it worse

In additional to the above infomation

Does he have any spots/discolouration at all? anything, the slightest little difference.

Tankmates- any other tankmates that could be bothering him?

Personally as soon as any fish look ill i'd do a waterchange

How big is his tank? How often do you do water changes? does the tank have a heater?
any noticable symptoms would be good to list:
clamped fins? spots or marks on the fish. any black or shite edging to his fins or do they look like they are eroding at all? Labored breathing? Flicking or rubbing against objects in the tank? How is his appetite?
answers to above and list of symptoms (other than just being lazy) would help. a pic would be very helpful.
for now as mentioned above, do a large waterchange and see if that helps perk him up.
all the best
cheers
