This isn't my betta but my grandmother's. I bought it for her a couple months ago and a couple weeks ago I noticed both of it's eyes are sort of pushed out of its head it looks like. I think the disease is called pop-eye? The crown tail is in a five gallon tank by itself with a heater and filter and underground filter. I clean the tank and take care of it all she does is feed the fish. So can you help tell my why this has happened? Thank you for any advice.

Hi there, pop eye can be brought on by stress to the fish, its easily treated but will need you to pay out a little. Go on ebay and search for myxazin, its a great medication and i've used it before and it got rid of my girls pop eye in a matter of days. If you leave it, the fish will eventually die or become blind. Do you have a test kit to test the water for, nitrites, nitrates, ammonia,ph or any of those?

Also, Myxazin lowers the count of harmful bacteria in aquarium water, treating Fin Rot, Body Rot, Ulcers, Sores and other bacterial infections. MYXAZIN will also help to control Pop - Eye Disease, Cloudy Eyes and Mouth Fungus.

pop eye isnt a disease outright...it is a symptom of an underlying casue.
some questions for the OP to answer and i can help you out further.
how many gals/lts is the tank?
how long has it been set up
heated and filtered?
any decor the fish could have injured himself on?
how often do you do a water change?
do you test your water regularly and if so what are the stats?

BEST thing to do is a big water change...i cannot stress the importance of clean water whenever you suspect something is wrong with your fish. keep the water very clean. if that means everyday 80% changes do it by all means. pop eye can me caused by a number of factors: injury, bad water quality, bacterial infection, dropsy, throwing medication in the tank willy nilly is not a good idea unless you know what you are treating for
is the fish bloated/fat? is it eating ok? any rubbing gainst things in the tank?
please test the levels of ammonia in your tank(if you are able) and then do a BIG water change and keep it clean. again, answering as many question above will help to determine what to do.
best of luck!
