sick betta help!

My betta cant be more than 2 years old but hes jus suddenly got really listless no dropsy finrot etc but hes swimming tail dangling down liying on the obttom only coming up for air. any ideas is he jst old?

Could be constipation what do you feed the fish, also can the fish maintain it balance in the water, and does it look bloated.

I gave him peas he isnt bloated hes in a filtered ten gallon tank but as he wasnt makeing it to the surface i put him in a floating tank in the tank its just him and some cardianls. he balancing but really listless and his back end is all hanging down lik ehe cant support the weight

Can you say what it look like when the fish goes to the toilet, any laboured breathing, or flicking and rubbing, could just be old age as well.

Ihavent seen it but i think it is old age cos i cant really find anyhting wrong except i just got an outbreak of white spot in that tank (first ever in five years!!) which im now treating but maybe that could cause him to be so listless

Did he just start acting like this when you began medicating? Are you sure he isn't just sleeping on the bottom? I have a betta that lies on his side on the gravel to sleep? Has he had anything happen to him lately that has stressed him out?

he's perked up he was swimmin like he couldnt hold up his tail he was soo tired n now he seems to ber getting better

Almost certainly sounds like old age is creeping in

[Aw its especially sad cos i didnt think about his age and so i just sold his gorgoeus fully grown babies so now i have none to carry on his line
