Siamese Haircut

my siamese fighter seems to have had his fins nipped by 2 new barbs that i introduced to the tank today, i had 4 tiger barbs in here before and they were fine, but im guessing the green barbs have done the damage. Will the siamese fighter be ok or will it die? it seems to be swimming around ok. Will the fancy fins grow back?

yes the bettas (siamese fighting fish) fins should grow back with clean water and maybe some melafix if there is no improvement.
However I would definitely remove the tiger barbs from the betta as tiger barbs are terrible fin nippers so will not mix well with your betta.

Yes i agree with geo7x, melafix and clean water should heal the bettas fins up.
Tiger barbs and bettas should never be mixed, you should always thoroughly research your fish before you buy them.

Also, the green barbs should probably be kept with more of their own kind. I've read that tiger barbs will be less "nippy" in larger groups (8+) Obviously you would need to consider stocking density and what your tank can handle if you decided to try, but tigers + bettas are probably not a good combination...

probably wasn't the green tiger barbs, probably the regular tigers, Green tiger barbs aren't as bad of nippers as regular tigers are

Green tiger barbs and regular tiger barbs are the same exact species, they are both just as nippy, you also must remember, individual fish can have different personalities. I have had individual neon tetras more nippy than individual tiger barbs. It is merely a color morph, I seem to recall that the green color actually tends to go away....not 100% sure on that tho.

I wont recommend them to be together because tiger barbs are fin nippers they will attack the betta or an gish that has long fine.

Why didn't you try to separate it from the barbs? That would have been the obvious thing to do .

i did seperate them, but it was too late, it was fine for a week, then i introduced them 2 green tiger barbs.....
