i have a siamese fitghing fish with has been ill for the last week and im very worried it could be suffering.
2 weeks ago i decided to add some new fish to my 30ltr tank which iv had set up for about 4 years. i have 3 tetras in there for over a year and thought they could to with some company. i got the siamese fighter and 3 rummy nose tetra, with in a week i lost 2 of the rummy nose (shop took responsabilty for this) as it seemed to be bacterial i got some melafix to treat the tank. 4 days in to treatment the siamese came down with what looks like pop eye, he is very miserable sitting at the bottom of tank, want even come out for food. due to the illness he has been acted by the others aswell and hes fins are abit of a mess. i then lost one of my original tetras (thinking old age), so did a large water change at end of treatment and started the course again. the siamese is not getting any better, he does come out more but just floats at the top of the tank and i sometimes think he has already died. Just wanting some advice on what to do with him. I cant place him in another tank as dont have one, but do have a breeding box. An advice would be a great help

One thing I do with mine when they get sick is to take them out of the tank and put them in a large cup or bowl and medicate them there. It's important to change the water daily and try not to let the water get too cold as I have found that this makes them a bit lethargic. Then once the fish is healthy and you have verified that the water in the tank is suitable, put him back in. The only caution I would give is that if the other fish in the tank are attacking him, you might not want to put him back in there.... Maybe another (smaller) tank or bowl?
