Just brought some rainbow fish and a female fighter,my male siamese fighting fish seems to be attacking them,he chases them round the tank and looks like he's trying to bite them, what shall i do?? i don't have another tank to separate him, will he calm down,he doesn't bother with the plec or tetras, although think he might have killed the little plec.

IMO he has got territorial, and he will bully the others that you have left to death.either take the others back or put them in a suitable container ie a bucket and you can rush out for another tank

i have 3 siames fighters in seperate tanks, the first one was fine with others, but the other 2 have been alone too long now to add anything else i think, i wouldnt be willing to chance it as you may end up losing the lot, what with him killing them then he gets stressed out

i think you need to get to the pet store as soon a s it opens today to return the others or invest in a new tank for them.

let us know how you get on and good luck

hiya mummy tommy, they're not called simaese fighting fish for nothing! They are aggressive and territorial and as such it's generally advised to keep them in their own small tanks. On occasion people will get a fairly docile one who can live in a community setting, however the evidence here shows that that's not the case for you. the fish needs to be seperated, unless you can get him his own 5gal tank then you need to take him back to the store you bought him from so they can sell him on to someone else with a suitable home for him.
